Jane Cao, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.C., is Director of Research and Cardiac Imaging for St. Francis Hospital. Nationally renowned as a cardiac imaging specialist and researcher, Dr. Cao has been the Clinical Director of Cardiac CT and MRI at St. Francis Hospital since 2006. She specializes in Cardiac MRI and Cardiac CT, and has broader expertise in preventative cardiology, cardiovascular disease, and cardiac imaging. Before joining St. Francis, Dr. Cao served as Director of Preventative Cardiology and Senior Staff Cardiologist at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, and as a Senior Research Fellow for the National Institutes of Health in its world-renowned cardiac MRI program.
Dr. Cao received her M.D. degree from the Medical College of Fudan University in Shanghai, and completed her Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Cardiology at the University of Vermont. She earned a Master’s Degree in Biology at Smith College in Massachusetts, and an MPH at the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Cao was a Senior Research Fellow at the National Institutes of Health prior to coming to St. Francis. She has lectured extensively in both the U.S. and China on cardiac CT and MRI and has published nearly 70 peer-reviewed research papers and articles in the medical literature.
Eddy Barasch, M.D., FACC, FASE, is the Director of Academic Programs, Co-Director of the Echocardiography Lab, and the Director of the Echo Core Lab at St. Francis Hospital. He is also a Professor of Clinical Medicine at Stony Brook University. Dr. Barasch is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular medicine, cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and CT angiography and is the author of over 100 abstracts, 60 journal articles, and multiple book chapters. Dr. Barasch is often invited to lecture at scientific conferences and is involved in more than 15 research projects.
Madhavi Kadiyala, M.D., is Director of the Women’s Heart Program and the Assistant Clinical Director of Cardiac CT & MRI. She also serves as a staff member of the echocardiography laboratory at St. Francis Hospital. She is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography and has authored abstracts, papers and a book chapter in Cardiac Imaging.
Alan S. Katz, M.D., F.A.C.C., is the Director of Cardiac Imaging and Informatics at St. Francis Hospital and the VP of Medical Informatics for Catholic Health Services. He has held positions as the Director of Echocardiography at the Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI, and as the Associate Professor of Medicine at Brown University. He is a leading expert in echocardiography and digital imaging in cardiology and is the author of numerous publications in the field of echocardiography. He is also Associate Professor of Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. His main interests include medical informatics, valvular heart disease, echocardiography, digital imaging, and cardiac CT.
Elana Koss, M.D., is an echocardiologist at St. Francis Hospital and is board certified in cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and internal medicine. Her expertise is in 3-D echocardiography, structural heart disease and she also does work with intra-procedural guidance for TAVR, left atrial appendage closure devices, Mitra Clip, intra operative TEE, TTE, TEE, and stress echo. Dr. Koss has written more than 15 publications, abstracts, and presentations in her field.
Dennis Mihalatos, M.D., has been at St. Francis Hospital for 17 years and is currently the Director of Cardiovascular Echocardiography. He is Board certified in Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiology, Echocardiography and Internal Medicine and has extensive experience and expertise in cardiovascular echocardiography. Dr. Mihalatos has written numerous manuscripts and abstracts in this area and is currently working on several research projects as well. Dr. Mihalatos also serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital.
Nathaniel Reichek, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.A.H.A., directed and expanded the departments of both Research and Cardiac Imaging at St. Francis Hospital from 2001 to 2016. He continues to lead multiple research projects at St. Francis’s principal investigator and also serves as Professor of Medicine and Biomedical Engineering at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr. Reichek has long been recognized as a pioneer in research in echocardiography and in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, is a founder and past president of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, a past chairman of the Intersocietal Commission for Accreditation of Magnetic Resonance Laboratories, was founding chairman of the Council of Cardiovascular Organizations and has served the American College of Cardiology in numerous roles. He has chaired peer review activities for the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology and has served on the editorial boards of all of the major U.S. Cardiology Journals. Dr. Reichek has published over 170 original research reports and over 400 abstracts, mainly in the field of cardiac imaging. His trainees include a number of leading investigators and teachers in echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging.
Xiao Li Ren, M.D., Ph.D., FACC, FASE , has been an Attending Cardiologist at St. Francis Hospital since 2007 and has a Ph.D. in cardiac physiology. She is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and cardiac CT angiogram. Dr. Ren is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in Manhattan. She has written many publications and abstracts in the field of cardiology.
Andrew Van Tosh, M.D., F.A.C.C., is the Clinical Director of Nuclear Cardiology at St. Francis Hospital. He began his work at St. Francis in 2007, after having served as Physician-in-charge, Cardiovascular Stress Testing, at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. Dr. Van Tosh has extensive experience and expertise in cardiac PET as well as standard SPECT and radionuclide ventriculography techniques. He has also played a leading role in the New York State Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Van Tosh has written more than 20 publications and over 25 abstracts.
Lin Wang, M.D., MS is an Echocardiologist at St. Francis Hospital. She is interested in structural heart disease, Interventional TEE including TAVR, Lariat, Mitral Clips, PFO/ASD Closures, 3D echocardiography, Intraoperative TEE, Heart Failure, VADs and chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity. Medical research experience at St. Francis Hospital as well as Massachusetts General Hospital, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, NY Medical College at St. Vincent’s Hospital and several others. Dr. Wang has more than 25 cardiology publications and abstracts and has a background in information technology developing databases.
Haoyi Zheng, M.D., is an echocardiologist in the Department of Cardiac Imaging at St. Francis Hospital. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, Adult Comprehensive Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. He has more than 30 publications, abstracts and book chapters as well as on-going research projects in cardiovascular sciences.
