Our Care Team

Through a multidisciplinary team approach, we combine the expertise and talents of all of the individuals responsible for the provision of personalized and compassionate oncology care for all patients within a supportive and healing environment.

Social Worker

The oncology social worker is available to provide services that address the overall needs of the cancer patient. The social worker assists patients and their families in dealing with concerns and problems which may result from illness or treatment.

The oncology dietitian participates in the individualized plan of care by providing instructions and counseling that is related to the overall nutritional needs of the cancer patient. They provide assistance with meal planning, dietary modifications, and therapeutic counseling.

Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistants

Nurse Practitioners are oncology nurses who have gone through advanced training, and are certified at the state and national level.

Physician assistants practice medicine under the direction of physicians and surgeons. They are formally trained to examine patients, diagnose illnesses, and provide treatment.

Nurse Manager

The Nurse Manager serves as the nurse leader, oversees the staff on the nursing unit and is available to hear concerns about your care and safety. The manager works collaboratively with the team to ensure quality care is provided. The nurse manager is a nurse with an advanced degree.

Clinical Nurse Specialist

The Clinical Nurse Specialist is an advanced practice nurse who serves as a clinical resource, educator, researcher, consultant and advocate for staff and patients.

Oncology Nurse

Oncology Nurses are registered nurses who have been individually credentialed in cancer care. They have knowledge, passion, and experience to care for the oncology patient. Together with other members of the health care team, the oncology nurse develops and implements a plan of care that is designed to meet the individualized needs of cancer patients and their families. The oncology nurse administers the treatment prescribed by your physicians, helps you manage any side effects, and explains your care to you and your family.

Nurse Navigator

The Oncology Nurse Navigator helps remove roadblocks to treatment and serves as point person for your care so that patients are able to keep their appointments, follow their treatment regimen, and receive the support services they need. The goal of the nurse navigator is to make sure that the comprehensive and varied cancer care services offered through health care providers and the community is accessible to all patients.

Oncology Pharmacist

Oncology Pharmacy Specialists recommend, design, implement, monitor and modify pharmacotherapeutic plans to optimize patient outcomes. All infusion therapies are prepared on site. As part of the interdisciplinary team, St. Francis Hospital’s pharmacists ensure medication safety and provide staff and patient education.

Psychosocial Services

Psychosocial services are essential components of comprehensive cancer care and are provided to patients with cancer and their caregivers throughout the continuum of care. These services address physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and financial support needs that result from a cancer diagnosis and help ensure the best possible outcome. Services are available on-site or by referral.

Cancer Genetics Program

The program helps identify those individuals and families at an increased risk for cancer and provides strategies to reduce risk and prevent cancer in the family. For more information visit Cancer Genetics.
