St. Francis Is Rated Best Hospital on Long Island in Latest Federal Rankings
Roslyn, New York, June 11, 2019 – St. Francis Hospital has received a four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. It is the only hospital on Long Island listed among the 17 best in New York State in the federal government’s latest rankings.
The ratings, which are posted on the government’s “Hospital Compare” website, are designed to give consumers a comprehensive look at hospitals so they can make more proactive choices about their care. The rankings are based on 57 measures, including readmission rates for certain procedures, mortality rates after being hospitalized for selected conditions, emergency room wait times, and patient satisfaction scores.
“We take these ratings very seriously,” said Charles Lucore, M.D., MBA, President of St. Francis Hospital. “My goal is to be a five-star hospital.”
St. Francis has daily safety huddles led by Dr. Lucore, in which leaders of major hospital divisions discuss actual or potential safety issues. It also has a quality and performance improvement department that continually analyzes data to identify potential problems and take action if necessary.
