St. Francis Hospital Performs Most Cardiac Surgeries on Long Island, According to Latest New York State Department of Health Report
ROSLYN, NY, February 20, 2018 – St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center® has once again performed the largest volume of cardiac surgeries on Long Island, according to new data released by the state Department of Health. The statistics, compiled from 2013 to 2015, show that the Hospital performed the most adult cardiac surgeries, including coronary artery bypass and valve replacements, on Long Island and the third highest number of these procedures in New York City area.

One St. Francis physician was recognized for having risk-adjusted mortality rates that were significantly lower than the statewide average: Maksim Rovensky, D.O., a cardiothoracic surgeon with the St. Francis Open Heart Surgery Program at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip.
St. Francis was also cited for performing the most Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacements (TAVRs) on Long Island. The Hospital was instrumental in getting FDA approval of the minimally invasive procedure for treating patients with severe aortic valve stenosis.
