Long Island Orthopaedic & Joint Replacement Services is an orthopedic surgery practice based at St. Francis Hospital.  Our board certified orthopedists offer the full range of orthopedic care for joints, bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. We specialize in sports medicine, arthritis prevention, ligament reconstruction, arthroscopy, joint resurfacing, foot and ankle surgery, total shoulder replacement and primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery, using state-of-the-art, minimally invasive techniques, including computerized patient-specific knee replacement technology, as well as robotic knee surgery. 

Dr. Frank R. DiMaio specializes in primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery, offering patients high quality care and services, including pre-operative education and post-op­erative rehabilitation. He has been an active member of Nassau County’s orthopae­dic surgical community since 1994, where he has estab­lished a strong clinical reputation. His prior positions include serving as a Chairman in Orthopaedic Surgery and Chief of Adult Joint Reconstruction at Winthrop University Hospital, Site Residency Program Director and Associate Clinical Pro­fessor for the SUNY Stony Brook Orthopaedic Department. Prior to his affiliation with St. Francis Hospital he was chief of joint replacement at North Shore/LIJ (now Northwell). 

Dr. DiMaio has published numerous professional articles relating to the field of Orthopaedics and contributed to chapters in several Joint Replacement textbooks. He also is credited as one of the designing surgeons for Zimmer’s Gender-specific knee replacement technology, and is active in numerous clinical research interests.  

Dr. Peter W. Lementowski specializes in surgical and non-surgical care of patients with hip and knee ailments. His range includes conservative treatment for hip and knee osteoarthritis, hip and knee injections for pain relief, hip and knee scopes, as well as hip and knee replacements. He is trained in both traditional and mini-invasive approaches to joint replacement. Dr. Lementowski is a regional referral source for revision surgery including prosthetic loosening, instability wear and infection. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and a Distinguished Consultant in Orthopedic Surgery to the National Institute of Medicine.  

Dr. Neil Watnik is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the North Shore LIJ Hofstra School of Medicine.  He has won seven Teacher of the Year Awards and The Leslie Sgaglione Humanitarian Award from the Orthopedic Department at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He has extensive experience in treating professional athletes, having been a team physician for the Long Island Ducks baseball team and the Long Island Roughriders soccer team.  His expertise lies in the minimally invasive treatment of the athlete utilizing the most advanced arthroscopic surgical techniques, Cartilage and Meniscal Transplantation and Shoulder replacements.  In addition he has extensive experience in Orthopedic Trauma.  Dr. Watnik donates his time on an annual medical mission to the Dominican Republic where he treats patients with complex fractures and deformities.
